It's HOT out!!

Remember, your Aussie can suffer from heatstroke just the same as humans. If your Aussie does survive a heat stroke, they can suffer long term complications. So lets just not let it get to that. On hot days, avoid or limit the time your dog goes out and exercises or trains. Try training early or later when the sun is going down. Make sure those limited times outside in the hot weather includes frequent rest periods. Make sure to pick an area with shade, provide plenty of cool water, and watch them carefully. If your Aussie exhibits any signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, attempt to cool them down asap and if they continue to show signs or something does not seem right, take them to the veterinarian immediately. One more thing. I know we all love to take our Aussies everywhere but resist taking them somewhere where you need to leave them in the car/truck/ or in my case, a jeep... even if you leave the windows down just leave them at home in the AC or with a fan. Your Aussie will love you even if you had to leave them at home for a bit. (The wiggle butt will let you know they love you)
